The San Diego Sharks are bringing pro basketball back to San Diego!

The San Diego Sharks are bringing pro basketball back to San Diego! We’re committed to bringing fun to families and creating a great experience for fans of all ages. Formed in 2022 by local small business owners, The Sharks play in the TBL’s Western Division. The Sharks are coached by Brandon Cheeks and are playing home games in gyms across San Diego as we look to build a fan base across all of San Diego- not just a single neighborhood.

THE SAN DIEGO SHARKS STORY

Sharks-Logo-F

The San Diego Sharks have been bringing an exciting brand of basketball to San Diego since their inaugural TBL season in 2022. Founded by former player and local business owner Tyler Sickmeyer, the Sharks bring a fans-first approach to the San Diego community. The Sharks play at Mira Mesa High School in Central San Diego.

The Sharks have reached the TBL playoffs in each of their first three seasons under the leadership of General Manager and Head Coach Brandon Cheeks. Each season has brought an improved record, improved fan experience, and increased attendance, with the Sharks drawing the most fans on the west coast and boasting a top 10 fan base in the entire TBL. The Sharks are looking forward to continuing each of those trends in the 2025 season, which runs from March to May with playoffs tipping off in June.

GAME DAY EXPERIENCE

Sharks-Logo-F

Each Sharks game features free tickets, parking, and popcorn for fans, plus exciting games, contests, and spectacles during timeouts. Crunch, the Sharks’ exciting and hilarious mascot, can be found all over the gym playing pranks on referees, leading kids in dances to the DJ’s music, and making every fan feel like the most important guest at the game.

At halftime, there’s no entertainment- that’s because fans young and old flood to the court to get shots up as they try to imitate their favorite Sharks players. After the game, Crunch and the players hang out with fans on the court until every autograph is signed and every picture is taken. Plus, if the Sharks win kids love to take part in a traditional “victory lap” with Crunch through our cold-spark machines while the players line up to high-five them!

Our Players

Sharks-Logo-F

The San Diego Sharks players feature some of the best basketball talent in the world outside of the NBA. Because the TBL runs in the spring, the league is filled with current, former, and future NBA, G-League, and overseas stars looking to stay in shape, enhance their resumes, and better themselves and their families through basketball opportunities that result from their time with the Sharks.

After just three seasons, former Sharks players have gone on to play in Africa’s BAL, Australia, Iraq, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Saudi Arabia, Kazahkstan, Ice Cube’s Big 3 League, Thailand, Germany, and more.

serving our community

The San Diego Sharks’ impact doesn’t stop when the game clock expires. Powered by the Sharks Foundation and generous sponsors, the Sharks are committed to running free basketball skills clinics throughout San Diego County for children of all ages.
The Sharks also visit schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, and military bases in addition to participating in special initiatives like Rock Church’s Toys for Joy and sending gently used shoes to a player’s home country of Gabon. The Sharks are also proud members of the San Diego Pro Sports Military Alliance, which is committed to making sports accessible for our military and their families.

Sharks leadership believes that our community-first approach is critical to the Sharks’ existence and sustained success.
